Nvidia CEO says it is certifying Samsung's AI memory chip

Recently according to media reports such as Cailianshe, Nvidia is working to certify Samsung's AI memory chips as soon as possible.

Samsung Electronics has previously hinted that it may soon provide advanced high-bandwidth memory (HBM) to artificial intelligence giant Nvidia.

Kim Jae-june, vice president of Samsung Electronics' memory business, said in a conference call after the release of the third-quarter earnings report: "We are currently mass-producing 8-layer and 12-layer HBM3E products." He also said: "We are expanding sales of 8-layer and 12-layer HBM3E chips to multiple customers. We are working hard to improve our HBM3E to meet the next-generation GPU plan of a major customer."
Samsung Electronics is currently developing the 6th generation HBM4 product and plans to start mass production from the second half of next year.

Kim Jae-june further stated that the company has made "meaningful progress" in meeting the quality testing requirements of a "major customer." The report said that the customer should be Nvidia.

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said that Nvidia is certifying Samsung's AI memory chips as soon as possible and evaluating Samsung Electronics' 8-layer stacked and 12-layer stacked HBM3E memory. These chips are designed to enhance artificial intelligence processing capabilities.
