Apple has developed more efficient and faster chips in less than three years to successfully replace Intel processors. Now, the modem chip C1 that is planning to replace Qualcomm has been unveiled in the latest iPhone 16e, gradually realizing the internalization of all network functions. The C1 chip focuses on efficiency and its performance has performed well in tests.
Apple reportedly plans to completely replace Qualcomm within two generations. The next C2 modem chip (codenamed Ganymede) is expected to debut in the iPhone 18 series in 2026.
The C2 chip has significantly improved performance and will support mmWave and achieve a download speed of 6Gbps per second, supporting Sub-6 six-carrier aggregation and mmWave eight-carrier aggregation.
Apple's third modem chip, the C3, is expected to be launched in 2027, hoping to surpass Qualcomm in performance and artificial intelligence capabilities.
