There are personnel changes at a major semiconductor company!

Following personnel changes at two major semiconductor manufacturers, Micron and Samsung, the news that Intel's former chief architect jumped to Qualcomm has once again attracted great attention from the industry.

According to foreign media reports recently, Sailesh Kottapalli, former chief architect of Intel's Xeon processor, has joined Qualcomm as senior vice president, leading the development of Qualcomm's data center CPU.

Sailesh Kottapalli also confirmed the authenticity of the news on LinkedIn. Sailesh Kottapalli said that after leaving Intel, he joined Qualcomm this month as senior vice president. "As we enter 2025, I am pleased to announce that I have joined Qualcomm."

It is reported that Sailesh Kottapalli joined Intel in 1996 and worked at Intel for 28 years. Foreign media reported that during his time at Intel, Sailesh Kottapalli served as the chief engineer of several Itanium and Xeon chips of Intel, and participated in the design of many CPUs and GPUs. Later, he became the company's chief architect of Xeon chips, responsible for the development of multiple generations of Xeon processors.

As we all know, Qualcomm is a world-renowned IC design company. As early as 2015, it announced its plan to enter the server chip market and even launched the Centriq series server CPU in 2016. However, due to various reasons, after a short period of development, it finally withdrew from the market in 2018.
